Negeri Jahe Merah BINTANG TOEDJOE won "Indonesia’s Best Corporate Sustainability Initiatives 2022" Creating Shared Value Category

MIX.co.id - Negeri Jahe Merah (translated: Red Ginger Country) is an ecosystem designed by the Bintang Toedjoe Inovasi Natural Business Unit (“BINA”) which focuses on procuring natural raw materials for the B2B segment. By the judges, this initiative received the highest appreciation with 373.50 points so that it was awarded the title of the best creating shared value program among the various programs that we assessed in the 2022 CSI award.

The ecosystem of Negeri Jahe Merah (NJM) was built as one of the company's efforts to support the independence of medicinal raw materials, especially those based on herbs. In its implementation, the ecosystem of NJM has seven process pillars, namely red ginger nursery, red ginger cultivation, post-harvest, extraction or distillation, pharmacology, commercialization, and community empowerment.

In the process of planting red ginger, BINA works closely with the red ginger farming community, one of which is farmers in Boyolali. BINA conducts data collection, education, monitoring and controls the age of harvest to obtain red ginger rhizomes that comply with standards and are recorded (traceable and recorded).

To join as a Bintang Toedjoe partner farmer, candidates only need to fill in a personal data form through the online red ginger ecosystem, or by visiting the red ginger country website.

This program is supported by the Seed Monitoring and Certification Center (BPSB) Surakarta. Officers from BPSP will assist farmers from the planting process to becoming seeds. One of Kalbe's assisted farmers revealed that after joining to become a Bintang Toedjoe partner and receiving assistance from BPSP, they produce more crops with better quality and more importantly, there is price certainty from Bintang Toedjoe.

Red ginger that is ready to be harvested will be sent to harvest centers in collaboration with the local government. This red ginger is then sorted, washed, cut, dried and packaged so that it is ready for consumption or further processing. By Bintang Toedjoe, the ginger will be processed into premium red ginger extract powder, standardized red ginger extract powder, red ginger powder, instant red ginger powder with palm sugar, fresh red ginger, red ginger simplicia, red ginger oil, red ginger liquid extract standardized. Apart from that, it is also used for Bintang Toedjoe products, such as BEJO Jahe Merah, Bejo Sujamer, Komix Herbal, Komix Herbal Jahe, Komix Herbal Jeruk Nipis, Komix Herbal Kids, and Komix Herbal Peppermint.
