Having a prime appearance is everyone's dream, especially women. One of the factors that supports appearance is healthy and well-maintained skin. Even the appearance of mild acne can be very disturbing to your appearance. Although not a serious health problem, acne can affect a person's quality of life, both physically and emotionally.
Acne or acne vulgaris is an inflammatory condition of the skin caused by blockage of hair follicles under the skin. This is characterized by skin disorders in the form of open comedones and closed comedones (not accompanied by inflammation) as well as papules, pustules and nodules (which are accompanied by inflammation). Acne can be caused by several factors, such as excess oil production, pores blocked by dirt and dead skin cells, the activity of the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria, and hormonal changes.
Red ginger is one of the herbal ingredients that can be used to treat acne. The zingiberene content in red ginger essential oil has antibacterial activity, both against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. Apart from that, zingiberene also has anti-inflammatory activity so it can reduce inflammation of the skin caused by acne.
From May to September 2023, Bintang Toedjoe Innovation Natural (BINA) conducted research regarding the effects of the Redgine product to relieve acne in healthy Indonesian women with mild to moderate acne conditions. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of cream products containing Red Ginger Premium Oil.
The results of the study showed that using the test product for 28 days significantly reduced the number of acne (papules, pustules and nodules) and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The test product also has a good oil control effect so that it can significantly reduce excess oil levels. In general, the use of the test product is also safe and acceptable for all research subjects. So it can be concluded that the Red Ginger Premium Oil product can be used to help relieve acne.
