Finally! Red Ginger Researched for COVID-19

According to Detik.com, COVID-19 cases have resurfaced in Indonesia, with the official COVID-19 website reporting 4,901,328 confirmed cases as of February 15, 2022. This Omicron model's deployment is also considerably faster and simpler than the previous variant. Even though the symptoms are still mild, we must be alert.

Many individuals have utilized natural medications to preserve their immune system since the Corona virus first appeared in Indonesia. There's also a lot of discussion about local Indonesian herbs like red ginger, bitter, and various herbs. Red ginger is said to improve endurance.

Seeing this, PT Bintang Toedjoe, owner of the Bejo Jahe Merah brand, decided to perform research on COVID-19 sufferers. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of utilizing Bejo Jahe Merah as a supplemental treatment for individuals infected with COVID-19 who had moderate symptoms.

"For the past ten years, Bejo Jahe Merah has worked to keep Indonesians healthy. We hope that by conducting this clinical trial, Bejo Jahe Merah will be able to contribute even more to combating the COVID-19 pandemic that has occurred in Indonesia and even internationally," Fanny Kurniati, President Director of PT Bintang Toedjoe, stated in a written statement on Wednesday (16/2/2022).

In line with what Fanny said, the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, M.Sc. also supports the research.

"BRIN is appreciative to Bejo Jahe Merah for initiating this clinical research project. BRIN wholeheartedly endorses this clinical investigation. We hope that in the future, Bejo Ginger Merah will become a staple of the Indonesian people," Dr. Handoko stated.

"The study will begin on February 18, 2022, with COVID-19 patients with minor symptoms at the RSDC Wisma Atlet Kemayoran. Of course, the research strategy has been prepared in accordance with the applicable standards and has gained ethical approval. Hopefully, the research will go as planned. Please accept our community's support and prayers," dr. Erlang Samoedro, Sp.P., the RSDC Wisma Atlet Kemayoran's Principal Investigator, added.

The goal of this research study is to see if red ginger, a traditional Indonesian herb, might help COVID-19 patients recover. As a result, red ginger has the potential to become the herbal choice of Indonesian families, as well as the pride of Indonesia in the eyes of international countries. Let us all support and pray for the success of this study!

Red ginger, also known as Zingiber officinale Rubrum, is a variety of red ginger rhizome plant that is smaller in size than white ginger. Red ginger has more volatile oil than other forms of ginger and is frequently used as the main element in herbal medicine. Several prior research have found that red ginger has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-pain content.
